In headlines, the <em> tag renders gold and upright. It's the only way to emphasize inline at display sizes.

Italic display type reads as ad copy. Body copy and pull quotes can use italics for emphasis or quoted phrases. Just not at H1 / H2 / H3 sizes.

Editorial layouts over card grids.

Single column with big numerals left, copy right. Reads like a feature article, not a SaaS landing page.

Don't

No // developer comment labels.

Section numerals as decorative type and // prefixes feel template-y. Use the eyebrow style instead.

Lead with statements.

Headlines declare. Body copy backs them up. Skip the question hooks.

No hyphens or em-dashes in copy.

Em-dashes are the classic AI tell. Strip them from headlines, body, eyebrows, and CTAs. Restructure with periods, commas, or shorter sentences. Compound modifiers (long-lasting) get rewritten too. Exceptions: hyphens that are part of an actual product name, and en-dashes in numeric ranges (2020–2026).

Logo

Two lockups: dark logo on light backgrounds, white logo on navy. Don't recolor. Don't use on photo backgrounds without a navy or dark scrim.

Imagery

Photos always sit under a navy or dark scrim. Never place text directly on a bright image. Editorial and moody over stock-bright.

Do

Dark scrim over photos.

Any photo used as a background gets a navy overlay at 60–75% opacity. Text sits on the scrim, not the photo itself.

Don't

No bright stock photography.

Avoid white-background product shots, generic office photos, and oversaturated lifestyle imagery. The brand is editorial, not startup-y.

Do

Moody, editorial tone.

Dark, contrasty, slightly desaturated. Think campaign creative, not SaaS marketing. Imagery should feel intentional.

Don't

No logo on photo backgrounds.

Never place the Jetfuel logo directly over a photo. Always use a solid navy or dark background behind the logo.
